POS register: sales, returns, cash shift, offline mode and receipt printing
Cash register, POS and shipments. Content verified: 12 October 2026.
What it is for
The POS register is a full-screen retail sales screen for a tablet, phone or computer. Each sale is an order in a channel of the "POS register" type, which immediately goes through reservation, picking and WZ goods issue.
Where to find it in the app
- Menu "Sales and logistics", a separate item "POS register". It opens full screen, without the side menu.
- Requires the warehouse module and POS cash register in the business profile (e.g. "detal" (retail) or "omnichannel") and a channel of the "Kasa POS" (POS cash register) type. If there is none, the cash register asks a person with channel permissions to create it; a suspended channel blocks sales.
- The permission to read the cash register gives you a preview. Sales, returns and shifts require permissions to operate the cash register and to write orders (salesperson, administrator, owner). A discount additionally requires the permission to write sales.
Sales step by step
- "Open shift": select the "Shift warehouse" (goods are issued from it) and "Starting cash".
- Add goods: the field at the top is always ready to scan an EAN or SKU, and scanning again increases the quantity by 1. You can also search by name or tap a quick button.
- Optionally "Customer": the NIP (10 digits, validated) and name go onto the receipt and the order. "Discount on the whole" or a per-item discount (percentage or amount) is available with the appropriate permission.
- "Pay": "Cash", "Card", "BLIK" or a split payment. Cash calculates the change; card and BLIK give no change.
- After the sale a receipt appears, and "Print receipt" opens the printout.
- "Hold" sets the basket aside, and "Held (n)" lets you resume it. There can be several baskets and they exist only on this device. "Clear" empties the basket.
- "Close shift": enter "Counted cash". The register shows the difference from the expected amount (starting cash plus cash from sales minus cash refunds) and refers you to "Add cash document" in the Cash module.
Return at the cash register
The "Zwrot" (Return) button opens "Zwrot towaru" (Goods return): enter the receipt or order number (at least 3 characters), select the items, quantities and "Stan towaru" (Goods condition), and in "Wypłata klientowi" (Payout to customer) the payout method. The cash register shows an estimate of the amount to hand back, and the system calculates the exact amount once the return is received. A return requires an internet connection.
Offline mode
When there is no internet, a sale is saved in a queue in the browser (IndexedDB) before the network call is made, and the receipt gets a local number. When the connection returns, the queue sends the sales one by one. Each sale has a unique key, so sending it again does not create duplicates. You can see the status in the "Sales and sync" window (the "to send" indicator). A sale marked "Needs attention", e.g. because goods are missing, is not retried automatically: check it and, if needed, use "Discard sale?". The queue is local to the device and browser, so do not clear its data before it has been sent. If the browser has no persistent storage, the register warns "The queue is not persistent".

Good to know
- A cash register shift lives on the device it was opened on, and other devices cannot see it. You pay the cash takings into the cash desk manually with a KP (cash receipt) document; nothing is posted automatically.
- X and Z fiscal cash register reports are a separate function of the fiscal cash register module, not part of the POS screen.
