X and Z reports, report archive and cash shifts

Cash register, POS and shipments. Content verified: 12 October 2026.

The X report shows the state of the register without closing the day. The daily Z report closes the fiscal day. Both are print jobs carried out by Bridge on the register, and their result (report number, totals, counters) is saved in the archive.

Ordering a report

  1. Open the "X/Z reports" tab and in the "Order report" card choose "Fiscal cash register" and "Day".
  2. Click "X report" (a preview, can be repeated) or "Daily Z report".
  3. For a Z report, confirm in the "Run the daily Z report?" window. The report will close the day, reset the register's daily totalisers and cannot be undone. Run it after sales have finished.
  4. The report appears in the queue like any other job. Once it has printed, the result goes to the archive.

A Z report can be run once per day and register. Ordering it again for the same day does not create a second job but returns the same one (you will see a message that the report has already been ordered). Only active fiscal cash registers can be selected.

Report archive

The "Report archive" section contains immutable records of X and Z report results received from the registers, with "Type" and "Register" filters. The details show "Totals (totalisers)" and "Counters" exactly as the register returned them, without recalculation. Field names depend on the model.

Cash shifts

  • "Open shift": you choose the register and enter the opening cash. Only one shift can be open for a single register.
  • "Close shift": you enter the closing cash and an optional note. Closing a shift does not print the Z report; you request the report separately.
  • A completed Z report automatically closes the open shift of that register.

"Overdue daily report" error

The register may report an "overdue daily report" error (e.g. Novitus, code 1116) when the previous day was not closed with a Z report. In that case, run the overdue Z report for that day. After a register failure in the middle of the day, agree with your accountants or the service provider how to settle that day. The app does not do this by itself.

Where to find it in the app

  • "Sales" menu, "Cash registers and printers", "X/Z reports" tab: the "Order report", "Cash shifts" and "Report archive" cards.
  • Ordering reports and shifts: fiscal:write, pos:write (cashier) or shipping:write; viewing requires fiscal:read. The module requires the `fiscal` business profile feature.
