Facebook and Instagram: Meta catalogue, system user token and synchronisation

Sales channels and marketplaces. Content verified: 12 October 2026.

What it is for

The Facebook/Instagram connector handles the Meta product catalogue (Commerce Manager) through the Graph API. Facebook and Instagram use the same catalogue, so one channel covers both. The connector retrieves the list of products to be mapped and sends stock levels and prices.

Connector scope: does not fetch orders. Meta has phased out in-app purchases, checkout never worked in Poland, and the Commerce order management API has been blocked since Graph API v26.0. Customers buy on your website, so orders are handled by your shop (connect it as a separate channel), while the Meta catalogue is used for advertising and product visibility. The connector also does not create or delete products in the catalogue.

Where to find it in the app

Sales and logistics, "Sales channels", "Add sales channel", type "Facebook (Catalogue)", and in the channel the "Connection" tab. Connector fields: "System user token" and "Catalogue ID".

The form in the "Connection" tab is built from the connector description, so it contains exactly the fields the platform requires, along with short instructions and a link to its documentation. After "Save credentials", click "Test connection"; "Start" in the "Synchronisation" tab only works after a successful check.

Where to get the keys

  1. In Meta for Developers (developers.facebook.com), create a Business type app and link it to your Business Manager (Business settings, Accounts, Apps).
  2. In Business Manager, go to Business Settings, Users, System Users, add a system user (Admin role) and assign your catalogue to it with full control.
  3. Click "Generate token", choose your app and select the catalog_management and business_management permissions. Copy the token: it is shown only once.
  4. You can find the catalogue ID in Commerce Manager (Catalogue, Settings) or in Business Settings, Data Sources, Catalogues.
  5. Paste the token and catalogue ID in the "Connection" tab and use "Check connection". Products in the catalogue must have an ID (retailer_id) matching the SKU in Zaksio, otherwise mapping will not work.

Catalogue batch documentation: developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/catalog-batch. Names in the Meta panels change often.

What it synchronises

  • Listings: list of catalogue products to be mapped by retailer_id (usually the SKU), refreshed daily.
  • Stock levels: availability (in stock or out of stock) and quantity. You can turn off sending quantities by setting the channel setting "sendQuantity" to false.
  • Prices: gross price in the format "12.34 PLN". Meta requires it to match the price on the shop's website, so change it consistently in both places.
  • Technical: batches of 1000 items, with each result checked in a separate request. When Meta exceeds the limit (codes 80014 and 80009), we wait and retry.

Important notes

  • If the catalogue is also fed by a recurring feed, the next import may overwrite changes from Zaksio.
  • After the token is invalidated (permission change, app removal), the channel will show an authorisation error and you will need to enter a new token.
