Shopify: Admin API access and shop synchronisation
Sales channels and marketplaces. Content verified: 12 October 2026.
What it is for
The Shopify connector fetches orders from your shop, sends stock levels (and optionally prices), lets you map products and passes on parcel numbers as order fulfilment. It uses the Admin API with GraphQL. The default API version is 2026-10 and can be changed with the channel setting "apiVersion".
Where to find it in the app
Sales and logistics, "Sales channels", "Add sales channel", type "Shopify", and in the channel the "Connection" tab. Fields: "Shopify shop domain", "Admin API access token", "Client ID (Dev Dashboard app)", "Client secret (Dev Dashboard app)" and "Warehouse location ID (optional)".
Where to get the keys
- In the Shopify panel, go to Settings, Apps and sales channels, "Develop apps".
- Create a custom app. From 1 January 2026, new custom apps are created in the Dev Dashboard (dev.shopify.com), and after installing it in the shop you provide the Client ID and Client secret instead of a token. The app must belong to the same organisation as the shop.
- In the Admin API configuration, grant the scopes: read_orders, read_products, write_products (prices), read_inventory, write_inventory, read_locations, read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders and write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders (tracking numbers).
- Orders older than 60 days additionally require the read_all_orders scope, which Shopify grants on request.
- Install the app in the shop and copy the Admin API token (it starts with shpat_ and is shown only once) or the Client ID and Client secret.
- In Zaksio, enter the shop domain in the form name.myshopify.com and the access credentials, click "Save credentials", then "Check connection".
Menu names and the way Shopify apps are created change fairly often, so check the current instructions on shopify.dev (the section on authentication and the "client credentials" grant).
Requirements and important notes
- The domain must be in the form name.myshopify.com. A custom shop domain is not accepted.
- You provide either an Admin API token or a Client ID and Client secret pair. With the pair, Zaksio fetches the token itself (valid for 24 hours) and renews it when needed.
- Buyer data (email, phone, addresses) requires approval for the app to access protected customer data. Without it, Shopify will not return these fields. The rules are set by Shopify, and you should handle personal data in line with the data protection rules in your company.
- "Warehouse location ID": the location where we set stock levels. Empty means the shop's first active location.
What it synchronises
- Orders: filtered by modification time. Test orders are skipped, and lines without a variant go to mapping by SKU or name.
- Listings: product variants.
- Stock levels: the sellable quantity set in a single location.
- Prices: only after enabling the channel setting "syncPrices", in shops with tax-inclusive prices, in the shop's currency.
- Tracking number: creates an order fulfilment with a tracking number.
