Print rules: which document on which printer
Cash register, POS and shipments. Content verified: 12 October 2026.
A print rule answers the question: when a document meets these conditions, which device should it be printed on (and, if that one is unavailable, which backup device). Nothing is printed "somewhere": when no rule matches, the job neither disappears nor goes to a random printer, but waits for your decision.
Rule conditions
- Point of sale, station, warehouse and sales channel.
- Document type: Fiscal receipt, Register invoice, Non-fiscal printout, Label, X report, Daily Z report, Cash in, Cash out, Drawer opening.
- Payment method: Cash, Card, BLIK, Transfer, Cash on delivery, Other. This field applies only to receipts and invoices.
- An empty field means "any". A rule matches only if all of its filled-in conditions agree with the document. If the document has no such value (e.g. a channel) and the rule requires it, the rule does not match.
Matching order
Exactly one rule always wins. Priority counts first (the lower number wins); in a tie, the rule with more conditions wins, and after that the creation date. If the devices of the winning rule are unavailable, the system does not fall through to later rules. It first tries the target device, then the backup devices in order. When all of them are offline, the job waits for the first one on the list (after approx. ten minutes it goes to you for a decision). When none is usable (disabled or unable to produce such a document), it goes to you for a decision immediately.
Adding a rule
- In the "Print rules" tab, click "Add rule" (a device must exist first).
- Enter a "Name" and a "Priority" (hint: the lower number wins).
- Choose the conditions: "Point of sale", "Station", "Warehouse", "Sales channel", "Document type", "Payment method".
- In the "Which device to print on" section, choose the "Target device". The list contains only devices able to produce the selected document.
- Select "Backup devices" in the order of use (up to five). For a fiscal cash register it is worth having a backup, because a register failure will stop printing.
- Save. You can "Edit", "Disable" and "Enable", or "Delete" the rule. After deletion, documents not covered by another rule will go to "Needs a decision".
Preview and coverage validator
The "Preview: what will happen to the document" section lets you pick a sample document and see the rule and the device it will go to. Nothing is printed in the process. The "Rule coverage validator" checks combinations of point, station, channel, document and payment. The "Gaps: scenarios without a rule" section has an "Add rule" button (creates the missing one with a single click) and "Adjust". The "Configuration warnings" section points out:
- a rule shadowed by an earlier, more general one: it will never fire,
- a rule pointing to a device that is disabled, deleted or unable to produce the given document,
- a backup device that is disabled or deleted,
- a fiscal cash register rule without a backup device,
- a device that no rule uses, and a point with no rules.
Where to find it in the app
- "Sales" menu, "Cash registers and printers", "Print rules" tab. Overview shows a shortcut in the "Rule coverage" card.
- Changing rules requires the fiscal:write permission; viewing requires fiscal:read. The module requires the `fiscal` business profile feature.
