Tax micro-account: what is it?
Individual account number for paying taxes
The tax micro-account is your individual account number for paying PIT, CIT and VAT. You can generate it on the Tax Portal.
Key answers
- What it is
- A bank account number assigned to the taxpayer (26 characters), to which PIT, CIT and VAT are paid. It is generated automatically from the NIP or PESEL number and stays the same even if you change address or tax office. It is for payments only, and refunds of overpayments go to the account reported to the tax office.
- Who it affects
- Every taxpayer who pays income taxes and VAT, including companies.
- When
- Before each tax payment, by the payment deadline of the given tax. Use your own number and not numbers received by email or text message, as that may be a scam attempt.
- Where
- You generate the number in the generator on the Tax Portal and enter it in the transfer. Accounting programs sometimes store it in the company settings.
